Tranent lies approx.12 Miles East of Edinburgh 2 Miles South of Prestonpans. Lying by the main A1 road between Musselburgh and Haddington the town is a thriving Residential and Commuter location and is central to smaller villages such as Macmerry, Ormiston and Pencaitland.
